Ptosis repair surgery is a procedure whereby the eyelid elevating muscle is tightened to lift the upper lid and open the eyes. Ptosis repair surgery is a highly specialized form of surgery very different from blepharoplasty surgery (usually cosmetic eyelid surgery). Ptosis repair surgery can be performed to improve field of vision or to improve appearance. It is important to see an eyelid specialist (oculoplastic surgeon) before having ptosis repair surgery as complications from this form of eyelid surgery can be severe and impair vision and comfort.
