World renowned author and lecturer, Dr. Guy Massry, a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon discusses some of his textbooks and international lectures. After years of publishing peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Massry saw the need for a textbook that provided quick references and high yield snapshots of more than 200 cosmetic procedures; essentially a compilation of “here’s how I do it” advice on the most commonly performed eyelid procedures. And with that “Pearls and Pitfalls in Cosmetic Oculoplastic Surgery” was born. The First Edition came out in 2009 and was tremendously successful, so Dr. Massry and his colleagues created a Second Edition that was published in early 2015. “I really enjoy this part of the practice because I get to make change and help things evolve,” said Dr. Massry.

Another one of Dr. Massry’s successful textbook is “Masters Techniques in Blepharoplasty and Periorbital Rejuvenation.” The book takes a comprehensive and multi-specialty approach to blepharoplasty and eyelid reconstruction. As an editor of the book, Dr. Massry had to not only write his own chapters, but also edit all of the other chapters written by his colleagues so that the information flowed well from one chapter to the next.

“I truly enjoy writing and I feel like I am making a difference. Being a physician is a responsibility and trust that people put in you. I need to stay up to date with how medicine changes, and I do this by teaching on it, lecturing on it and writing on it,” said Dr. Massry.

Lecturing is sharing your experience with others. Dr. Massry has traveled around the world giving hundreds of lectures and has been blessed to have received awards for this. “You meet people from around the world and learn so much from this academic. Its a unique experience and a privilege to be surrounded by world leaders in the field,” explained Dr. Massry.
