Eyelid filler injections are becoming more and more common among men and women. Today, Dr. Guy Massry thought he would share 3 fun facts about eyelid filler with everyone!

Eyelid Filler Fun Fact #1

Did you know early fillers were made from the comb (red appendage) on the top of the head of turkeys and chickens?! Don’t worry, this is no longer where filler comes from!

Fun Facts About Eyelid Fillers - 1

Today there are several different type of eyelid fillers. The most commonly used eyelid fillers are Hyaluronic Acid gel fillers, such as Restylane.

Eyelid Filler Fun Fact #2

Did you know eyelid fillers work by tissue expansion. The easiest way to understand how fillers work is to think of a sponge – when the sponge gets wet it expands. Just like a sponge, fillers draw in fluid and then expand.

Eyelid Filler Fun Fact #3

Fillers can be administered either with a needle or a blunt cannula. Dr. Massry only uses a blunt cannula for his eyelid filler injections because not only do patients experience less bruising, but it is significantly safer than using a needle for the injections. When Dr. Massry uses the blunt cannula for underey filler injections, he enters through the cheek to inject the lower lid as this causes less  trauma and bruising to the delicate lower lid skin.

Eyelid Filler Safety

No eyelid filler blog is complete without reminding patients to take precautions when you are considering eyelid fuller. As always, Dr. Guy Massry in Beverly Hills urges patients to find an injector who has a lot of experience with fillers around the eyes to ensure they have safe and effective results. Furthermore, Dr. Massry recommends only using gel fillers like Restylane (Hyaluronic Acid Gels) as they are reversible, which adds another layer of safety to the treatment.
