Unfortunately people lose their eyes to trauma or disease all the time.  This is probably the saddest and most difficult thing I deal with on a daily basis.  However, both appearance and function can be improved significantly, as long as aesthetics are strongly considered in the reconstruction.

Below is a woman who lost the right eye to trauma.  Note on the left is her appearance before surgery.  On the right top is her surgical result after reconstructing the right eye and socket and placement of a false eye (prosthesis).  On the right below is her surgical outcome immediately after cosmetic eyelid surgery.  While these results can never be as good as in patients who have not lost their eyes; a big improvement is almost always possible.  Even though I could not return her vision, she could regain her confidence.

Dr. Guy Massry (Beverly Hills ophthalmic plastic surgery) specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, canthoplasty) and has tremendous experience in helping patients who have lost their eyes (anophthalmia) and who wear a false eye (ocular prosthesis).  To make a consultation with Dr. Massry please refer to his his web site drmassry.com or call for a consultation (310) 453-8474
