How to Fix Bad Results From Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery

Posted by admin

When performed well, the results of cosmetic eyelid surgery are natural-looking and rejuvenating. But what do you do if you get a poor outcome? Dr. Guy Massry is an expert in revision eyelid surgery and explains how to fix bad results from cosmetic eyelid surgery.

One of the most common problems Dr. Massry deals with after an unsuccessful lower eyelid blepharoplasty is lower eyelid retraction or pulled down lower lids. Correcting lower eyelid retraction is often a complicated and frustrating problem to address and requires the skills of an expert like Dr. Massry to ensure you get the best outcome possible.

How Does Dr. Massry Fix Lower Lid Retraction?

Dr. Massry uses various specialized techniques to correct this deficit, including the following:

  • Midface-lift
  • Raising and suspending the outer corner of the lower eyelid
  • Outer brow lift

Dr. Massry performs the outer brow lift to avoid bunching of skin at the outer corner of the eyelid which can happen from the midface lift. This advanced technique gives a smooth final result. Combining these techniques is the best way on how to fix bad results from cosmetic eyelid surgery.

Botox vs Fillers – TRUE or FALSE

Posted by admin

When you first decide to take your beauty routine to the next level, you quickly realize there are a lot of different non-surgical procedures available to help you erase your unwanted wrinkles. Two of the most common non-surgical procedures are Botox and fillers – they are two very different things.

To help educate patients, Beverly Hills oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Guy Massry, has put together a true or false list of the most common questions about Botox vs fillers. How many of these do you already know?

Botox and fillers are the same thing – FALSE

Although both Botox and fillers are used to rejuvenate the face, they achieve this in very different ways. Botox temporarily freezes your muscle activity so that wrinkles are not being created. Fillers add volume to the face to smooth out wrinkles, get rid of dark circles under the eyes, and plump up the lips.

Botox gets rid of wrinkles – TRUE

Botox, or Botulinum toxin, temporarily relaxes your facial muscles that create lines and wrinkles. Botox can be placed on the forehead, in your 11 lines or around your crow’s feet to erase the appearance of your wrinkles. Results last for 3 to 4 months. Furthermore, when performed by an expert injector, like Dr. Massry, Botox can be strategically placed to give you a non-surgical brow lift.

Fillers get rid of wrinkles – TRUE

As we age we lose facial volume. This loss of volume can lead to wrinkles around the mouth, under the eyes or temples. Fillers can restore this lost volume which can smooth out wrinkles.  While this is true, keep in mind that fillers are a better volume restoration procedure (ie fills hollows/folds) than fine wrinkle reducer.

Anyone can perform Botox or Filler injections – FALSE

Since injectable treatments, such as Botox and fillers, are becoming more and more popular, access to them is becoming easier. However, while everyone from nurses to primary care doctors seems to be offering injectable treatments these days, it is vital to see an expert trained injector to make sure you get the best results possible and avoid potential risks.

Are You A Candidate For Botox or Fillers?

We hope you found this information about Botox compared to fillers to be helpful! If you are interested in learning if you are a candidate for either one of these non-surgical treatments, please contact our office to make an appointment with Dr. Massry - 310.657.4302.

The Best Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery Results

Posted by admin

Cosmetic eyelid surgery is not a "one size fits all" procedure. Our eyes are the most defining characteristics of our face and deserve to be treated with personalized and customized care. Dr. Guy Massry believes the best cosmetic eyelid surgery results are those that are tailored to the specific needs of the patient.

So how did Dr. Massry achieve the best cosmetic eyelid surgery results for this patient? He performed a customized outer brow lift with upper and lower blepharoplasty.

What is an Outer Brow Lift?

The outer brow lift is a very important component of natural looking eyelid rejuvenation results, but many patients have never heard of an outer brow lift. Most patients come to Dr. Massry for an upper blepharoplasty thinking that all that needs to be done is to correct the appearance of sagging upper eyelids. However, what they don’t realize is that the position of the outer brows often affects the upper lid fullness. So when the outer brow falls, which is a normal change due to aging, the upper lids become heavier. If the outer brow is not lifted during surgery, the root of the upper lid sagging is not addressed.

Please keep in mind that not everyone needs the outer brow lift. This is why it is so important to find an expert oculoplastic surgeon to evaluate your needs and determine the best course of surgery for YOU.

Rejuvenating the Lower Lid

A lower lid blepharoplasty gets rid of under eye bags and can be performed a variety of ways. As a seasoned expert in lower eyelid rejuvenation, Dr. Massry generally prefers to perform the surgery through an incision on the inside of the eyelid because it significantly reduces the risk of changing the shape of the eye and there is no visible scar. Furthermore, when necessary, Dr. Massry will perform fat repositioning to smooth out the hollows under the eyes. But again, each patient is unique and Dr. Massry utilizes other lower blepharoplasty techniques when necessary to provide each patient with the best results.
